Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park) Gateway is the front 50 acres of the park and represents the active use area offering numerous recreational amenities including two softball fields, one football/soccer field, basketball court, ten pickleball courts, one tennis courts, two large picnic pavilions with grills, playground, geo-caches, "life trail" exercise stations, and access to the park’s hiking and nature trails. The "Gateway" also features a large dog park with five different areas for dog of various ages, sizes, and abilities. This area also boasts natural areas that provide habitat for wildlife for the keen eyed visitors to see, including Summer Tanagers, Bobcat, Gopher Tortoise, Oak Toad, Black Racers, and Cooper's Hawk.

Dogs are permitted outside the Dog Park. Dogs outside of the Dog Park must be on a 6' leash or shorter at all times and are prohibited on the fields, courts, and playground areas and may not enter the Wildlife Conservation Area. (Please watch for signs indicating you are entering Wildlife Conservation Area along trail) Dog owners must immediately clean up waste from the dogs and dispose of it properly.
