The 45 acres of Lake Idamere Park, located off State Road 19 along County Road 448, offers a variety of things to do from a leisurely canoe or kayak around Lake Idamere, a relaxing 1 miles hike on the nature trail, to a shaded picnic while children of any ability play on the playground or come out on a Saturday and watch a game on the Miracle Field.
The park also features a dog park with areas for different size dogs, pavilions with grills and tables for a cookout or picnic, fishing pier, and a 2-mile hiking trail. It is also the site of Lake County's first Miracle League Field. Miracle League Field has a special surface that allows persons of all abilities to enjoy sports like baseball and track & field. The Miracle Field & Track are open daily from 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.. Access at other times can be made by calling 352-253-4950. Phase 2 of the Miracle Field Project will bring added restrooms and concession stand.
Lake County’s Park Rangers also regularly lead nature hikes or paddling trips to explore the park's diversity of life, which includes more than 20 species of butterflies, 85 species of birds, Scrub Lizards, Gopher Tortoise and on occasion a Bobcat, as well as many other animals and insects. The park also has many species of native plants and the park received a donation of 16 Bald Cypress and numerous other native plants to increase the beauty and biodiversity of the park.
Please be aware that dogs and all other pets are prohibited in the playground area and dogs must be on a 6’ or shorter leash at all times outside of the dog park.
