Join the City of Tavares for a fun, family-friendly community event celebrating trees, nature, and environmental stewardship.
Attendees can explore educational booths focused on trees, conservation, and the environment, and enjoy engaging presentations throughout the day. Learn how to create a sustainable, attractive landscape using UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principles during a presentation by Lake County Extension Residential Horticulture Agent Maria Bautista.
Experience a fascinating program by Avian Reconditioning, highlighting raptors and the important work being done to rehabilitate these magnificent birds. The Lake County Water Authority will be offering free trees, and in partnership with Lake County Parks & Trails, staff will be available to share information about Lake County’s parks and trail system.
The Lake County Office of Emergency Management will also kick off Emergency Preparedness Week by providing helpful tools and tips to prepare for emergencies. Additional participants include local 4-H youth, the Florida Native Plant Society, Trout Lake Nature Center, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Keep Lake Beautiful, and our energy partners Duke Energy and SECO Energy—many of whom will be offering free trees while supplies last.
Come out, learn something new, and help grow a greener, more resilient Tavares.
