The City of Mount Dora invites residents and visitors to gather in remembrance at its annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
This solemn observance honors the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.
The ceremony will open with the Presentation of Colors by the Umatilla High School Army JROTC, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor James Homich.
Featured speaker Commander Laurie Turner, representing VFW Post 8087, will share remarks paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The program will also include a patriotic performance of the National Anthem and Taps by Mount Dora Police Department Corporal Darla Oringderf. Immediately following the ceremony, members of VFW Post 8087 and Boy Scout Troop 19 will place flags on gravestones.
